Newsletter February 2025
EuroSpec is off to a good start in 2025: New specifications are available because our working groups worked hard last year. That's why you are seeing this newsletter. A newsletter only comes out when there is important and relevant news to report. Therefore, we keep this newsletter short with as many relevant links or instructions as possible. Please forward this newsletter widely within your organisation and network. This will help the rail sector become even more competitive.
Registration and login for downloads
During the last months of 2024 there were some registration issues, but we did solve these problems in the short term. When you have new issues: please inform us via contact@eurospec.eu and our back office will help you within a few days.
    Updated Vision and Mission
In order to be aligned with the present landscape of European Railways the new vision and mission of EuroSpec has been updated. This will be incorporated in the next update of the website as well.
    New harmonized Specifications
In the last period, our EuroSpec team delivered two new sets of harmonised specifications:

To encourage green mobility, transporting bikes on trains has become much more important in recent years. Since 2023 a new EU-regulation on passenger rights (EU 2021/782) came into force.
This ensures that rail passengers have the right to take their bicycles on long distance and local trains with them. However, the railway companies do have several years to adapt their capacities.
In addition, the growth of electric bicycles has changed the demand. Therefore, EuroSpec has taken the initiative to harmonise the functional frameworks for a passenger train. The EuroSpec ‘Bicycles in trains’ is the result.

The door system is one of the most important subsystems of a train. This is because of its link to the key areas of safety, accessibility, operational processes and reliability. From the user's point of view, there was a lack of available standards and specifications. Therefore, we brought together all our experiences and thoughts in this new EuroSpec.

The draft version of the xlsx-files has been shared with manufacturers and suppliers in an earlier stage. We are open to discuss, exchange and receive input on these documents. If so, please use contact@eurospec.eu.
      New or updated Project briefs

The very first EuroSpec Statement on the subject Luggage is available. In the previous one, we told why we have this new deliverable from EuroSpec. It is insufficient for a real specification document, but important enough to share. Log in and use this link.

Feel free to share your thoughts with us or even add other valuable experiences related to this topic.
      EuroSpec – global presence
EuroSpec’s goal is to speed up the user-oriented harmonisation of rolling stock. An important measure to support this is the sharing of the collected knowledge for free: for the entire world, for every type of user. Because we are convinced that in this way we are providing maximum contribution to the rail sector. In the last year we have achieved good results in sharing our specifications. This is reflected in the numbers of users and downloads.
      Users website:
Active users website in 2024: more than 6000.

Number of downloads and downloaded documents:
