Newsletter December 2025
This is the last newsletter of 2025. As a group of railway operators, we have done our job this year. It has been a productive year. A total of five new EuroSpecs have been delivered, three of them have been updated, and one statement has been provided.

This newsletter provides a brief explanation of the EuroSpecs that have been published recently and the improvements we have made to our external communications.

Please forward this newsletter widely within your organization and network. This will help the rail sector become even more competitive.
New harmonized Specifications
In the last period, our EuroSpec teams delivered three new or updated sets of harmonised specifications (login first to download these specifications in pdf or xlsx-format):

This document defines a voluntary common specification for exterior access panels in the rail sector. Its purpose is to harmonise design principles for hatches, panels, and covers on rolling stock, replacing company-specific requirements with a shared reference for tendering and verification. Safety incidents are often caused by human error during maintenance, driven by the wide variety of attachment and locking principles used in modern rolling stock. This EuroSpec provides an integrated framework addressing attachment, handling, detachment, and protection against uncontrolled opening, closing, or loss of exterior access panels, thereby improving safety, reliability, and maintainability.
The updated version of this EuroSpec features some minor changes. The most important improvement is the newly added Application Guidance. This document supports the application of the EuroSpec Seat Comfort specification.
Version 2.0 introduces a revised and updated requirements table, adopts new EuroSpec templates, and updates referenced standards.

Previously published in 2025:
  • NEW: Bicycles on trains, External Passenger Access Doors, Life-Cycle-Costs for rolling stock, Maintenance Software for Railway vehicles and Luggage (statement)
  • UPDATE: Parking Noise
