Newsletter 2023 Q1

Dear interested reader, this is the first newsletter from EuroSpec in 2023. We started with this newsletter in order to inform everyone directly of the status of Eurospec work. Our goal is to initiate more interaction and to engage with (potential) users of our specifications. We have the ambition to be aligned with the rail industry, with the latest developments and experiences.
All newsletters will be kept available on our website. Via the website, our Linkedin page and direct at the bottom of this Newsletter you can subscribe to this newsletter. You are welcome to provide us with remarks and feedback or with proposals for new content.
New harmonised specifications
The brand new EuroSpec ‘Specification on circularity’ was handed over to Ilse van Eekeren (Manager Circular Business at NS) by the Steering Group’s Chair Ralf Marxen during the Steering Group meeting in Utrecht on the 24th January 2023 (picture below).
New or renewed project briefs
A clear starting point for our working groups is necessary.
This is described in a project brief.
In the last period, the EuroSpec working group ‘Parking Noise’ has been working on a new project brief "Parking Noise update of requirements".
Alignment with rail industry
A very valuable part in our specification development process is the exchange with the rail industry. We are very pleased that during the last months many suppliers have provided their feedback about the draft version of the new EuroSpecs: Software updates, Circularity and Wheel brake disc. This helps us to deliver the best possible EuroSpec specification. At the moment we are collecting feedback on the draft EuroSpec Upgradeability.

We regularly approach the industry for feedback. We do this via UNIFE or directly from an existing network. If you would like to be approached for a review of the draft versions in the future, please let us know at: info@eurospec.eu.
Call for Experts or expertise
EuroSpec is continuously looking for new topics were harmonization can lead to remarkable benefits for the railway operators and train owners. We would like to receive relevant content from and exchange with companies. In October 2022, an expert meeting was organized to exchange experiences about failures of welding of rolling stock structures. The EuroSpec team is defining next steps for this topic.
EuroSpec organisation
With the changes to the structure of the Railway industry in Great Britain, the representation of the British railway operators has been changed. From now on RSSB (Railway Safety and Standardisation Board) will replace the Rail Delivery Group (RDG)in representing GB in EuroSpec.
